A Beautiful Elvetham Wedding

I was really excited the morning of Lauren and Ashley’s Elvetham wedding. I had got to know them well before their wedding and we had such a laugh at their engagement shoot a few months prior, that I knew today would be wonderful and full of smiles and laughter.

I arrived at Lauren’s parents house where the bride and her bridesmaids where getting ready. The conservatory at the back of the house made a perfect hair and make up area and the sun shone down. I took some time away to photograph Lauren’s Stella York wedding dress in the lounge. The shape of the dress and veil were stunning and her Christian Louboutin shoes were a perfect accessory. I had major shoes envy!

At one point that morning the family dog Sev decided to take a little break and lay down under Lauren’s wedding dress as the train was draped over the back of a chair. Maybe it was all a little too much for poor Sev having so many women in the house.

The time came for Lauren to get into her dress. The bridesmaids where already dressed and all rallied round to help. Lauren’s mum helped her with her jewellery and had to hold back the tears as it was now reality her daughter was about to get married. One of the bridesmaids noticed Lauren was tearing up and quickly grabbed a shoe box lid to try and dry them before her make up ran!

It was now time for me to jump in my car and make my way to The Elvetham to make sure I got there before the bride. Once there I met up with my second photographer Paul who bad been with Ashley during the morning. Groom Ashley looked calm and happy. That was until it was time for his bride to make her entrance and I could see the nerves show. Lauren’s face was full of love and emotion as he approached Ashley, such a special moment.

The ceremony perfectly summed up the couple I had go to know the past few months, fun, full of laughter and full of love.

After the confetti throw, a few drinks on the lawn and some photos with their families we headed off around the beautiful gardens for some couples portraits. A few rain drops twinkled in the sunlight but it didn’t matter, nothing could take away from Lauren’s wonderful smile.

It was then time to head inside for the wedding breakfast. The speeches came before the meal and they did not disappoint. The best men presented Ashley with a particularly embarrassing collection of pictures on a large to screen, which went down well with everyone except Ashley who buried his head in his hands.

After the cake cutting and an opportunity for a couple more couples portraits it was time for the first dance. One of my favourite parts of the evening at weddings is when everyone piles on the dance floor after the first dance and this was certainly the case this evening. The conservatory was decorated beautifully with lights and lanterns and the band The Indie Killers were very impressive.

Later on in the evening it was time for fireworks and sparklers outside. The late September air was chilly but the fireworks were so spectacular no one minded.

A little while later there was another opportunity to whisk the newlyweds outside for a few minutes for a night shot outside the beautiful building which was all lit up. It was then time to say our goodbye’s, pack up and head home. My feet hurt and I was starting to get pretty tired, but it didn’t matter as I was certain I had captured the story of Lauren and Ashley’s amazing day and I felt honoured to be a part of their Elvetham wedding.
