A Beautiful Spring Wedding

I had been asked by Ben Toms of Benjamin Toms Photography to help him out at this Spring wedding which would take place close to the long Easter weekend. I was thrilled when Ben asked and I happily accepted. When I received the details of the wedding I had to smile, this venue had the same name as my own wedding venue, Tudor Barn. It was not actually the same venue, however this was still a good sign!

As I arrived at Tudor Barn and sussed out its surroundings I was amazed at how such a quaint venue and its beautiful surroundings sat in the middle of the busy area near Eltham in South East London. A true little gem of a venue.

The air was chilly as guests started to arrive, I kept my fingers crossed the spring sun would grace us with its presence later in the day. It didn’t let us down! The groom, his best man and ushers arrived. The groom looking nervous and took himself away for a quiet moment as guests continued to arrive.

A short time later the bride and her father arrived in a cream and red Morris Minor Roadster, followed by the bridesmaids and flower girls. The bride looked beautiful and elegant in a Stephanie Allin gown, her make-up was perfection. The bride had done her own make up that morning, I was extremely impressed.

The ceremony room was upstairs at Tudor Barn, so the flower girls, bridesmaids and finally the bride and her father made their way up the stairs. They paused at the top as the wedding coordinator gave them in turn their cue to enter the room.

The ceremony was full of love and smiles. A lovely touch was everyone getting to their feet to sing along to some specially chosen songs by the bride and groom. One of the ushers played the guitar and a bridesmaid with a lovely voice got everyone involved.

Once the ceremony was over the newlyweds exited the ceremony room to cheers and applause. The brides smile lit up the room as she looked at her new husband. Back outside, to everyone’s delight the sun had now come out and the guests lined up to greet the happy couple with handfuls of confetti.

As the wedding guests drank Champagne and Pimm’s in the sunshine we whisked the bride and groom away for some couple’s portraits. The gardens just behind the barn were perfect for a Spring wedding, including a pretty bridge over the river with ducks and moorhens paddling around.

It was soon time for the wedding breakfast as guests were called back into the barn. The newlyweds were announced into the room to cheering and clapping which went on for what seemed like ages. Clearly this couple were adored by their family and friends.

After dinner came the speeches. By this time the poor groom had almost completely lost his voice, the bride stepped in to help her new husband complete his speech and thank you messages. They were perfect for each other!

Being just a few days before Easter the couple had organised an Easter hunt for all the children attending the wedding. The children were kept in the barn while the adults (some a little worse for wear at this point) sped around the gardens hiding soft toy carrots. When the children got the signal they were released! It was carnage for about 5 minutes while they ran as quickly as they could with their Easter buckets in tow collecting the carrots. Their rewards were Easter bags full of chocolate eggs and bunnies. I was a little envious!

It was then time for the first dance and the guests surrounded the dance floor. The dance was choreographed to perfection and they couldn’t have looked happier. As the evening went on and it was time for me to pack away, the grooms group of friends took their ties off and tied them round their heads. I knew at that point the rest of the night would be full of fun, dancing and celebrations. A great end to a brilliant Spring wedding.
