Audleys Wood Hotel is a stunning romantic wedding venue in Basingstoke. The picturesque setting is perfect for some wonderful wedding photos and the Garden Pavilion a great location for a fun packed wedding reception.
Bride Gemma and her mum and bridesmaids were getting ready at Audleys Wood Hotel before travelling to the church ceremony. The Victorian mansion part of the hotel is full of characterful décor, ornate stonework and beautiful stained glass and really suited the grand occasion of the wedding.
There was a lovely atmosphere all morning, very relaxed with lots of laughter. Gemma’s nephew made an appearance at one point which was a lovely moment. Gemma was fighting back the tears seeing him on her wedding day. The hotel room fridge was full of bubbly and the glasses were kept topped up all morning.
My second photographer for the day Alex spent some time with Groom Rob and his groomsmen that morning. Firstly, at the bride and grooms’ home, then off to a pub local to the church for a quick pint before the ceremony.
At Audleys Wood Hotel, Gemma’s hair and make-up were complete and it was time for her to get into her wedding dress, and what a stunning dress it was by Sophia Tolli. Gemma was assisted by her mum and bridesmaids who tied up her dress and helped with all her accessories. When the time was right Gemma’s dad came in to see her. Such a wonderful moment and the father of the bride looked so proud.
At the church Gemma’s mum and bridesmaids arrived, followed by the bride and her dad in a beautiful vintage Rolls-Royce. The sun was shining down for the bride’s arrival at the beautiful church, it was the perfect English country side wedding setting.
Gemma and Rob smiled throughout the ceremony and there were two lovely readings. After making it official and signing the register the newlyweds exited the church into the sunshine. Then it was time for confetti and some family photos before heading back to Audleys Wood Hotel for their wedding reception.
The Garden Pavillion at Audleys Wood Hotel is beautiful, with flowers from Miss Mollie’s Flowers and decorations from Events 4U it looked stunning. The grounds of the hotel are lovely, and it really is a dream country house wedding venue. Firstly, we did some bride and groom portraits at the front of the hotel which had a pretty lawn and features. Then we headed to the gardens at the back for some more group photos. Gemma and Rob chose to have a Toastmaster as part of their wedding day and they chose well with Alanna Betambeau. She helped hugely with gathering guests for the group photos and generally helped the afternoon run smoothly and efficiently.
A wedding magician and a caricaturist entertained the guests during the drinks reception, then it was time for the guests to head into the Garden Pavilion for the wedding breakfast. At this point I borrowed the bride and grooms wedding rings for a couple of close up pictures. I love getting creative with these pictures and finding some nice little spots. Audleys Wood Hotel had some great little spots and flowers for me to do this.
After the meal it was time for speeches which were both funny and touching. I was taken a-back that groom Rob thanked myself and my second shooter Alex for our hard work. I thought that was so lovely and I was very grateful for the mention. As the evening set in it was time for cutting the wedding cake, and what a pretty cake it was by Gifted Heart Cakes. The style and colour scheme were perfect. Then the newlyweds headed to the dancefloor for their first dance as man and wife. As Rob spun his new bride on the dance floor her stunning wedding dress moved beautifully showing all the layers. Then Gemma’s Dad stepped forwards for a father daughter dance which I always love. Seeing the bond between a father and his daughter is so special.
The rest of the evening reception was action packed. Glow sticks, whistles, sparklers and plenty of dancing! Audleys Wood Hotel has a beautiful hand-built wooden gazebo just a few meters away from the Garden Pavilion. I could not resist setting up a night time bride and groom portrait within it and I was super happy with the result.
Gemma and Rob’s Audleys Wood Hotel wedding was such a delight and I was thrilled to be part of such a beautiful, elegant and love filled day while capturing their memories. Everything about this wedding was perfect, the couple, the weather, the moments, the fun and of course the beautiful Audleys Wood Hotel which is a pleasure to photograph. I am super happy to be one of their recommended suppliers and I cannot wait to work there again very soon.
