The De Vere Latimer Estate is a beautiful wedding venue in Buckinghamshire and such a pleasure to photograph. The historic mansion with its Victorian architecture is full of modern elegance with majestic original features.
The gardens and lawns of the Latimer Estate are truly magnificent and wonderful for wedding photos. The view over a valley in the Chiltern hills is a such a spectacular backdrop for your wedding.
The weddings I have photographed at the Latimer Estate have been so much fun. The bridal suite is flooded with natural light for wonderful photos of the bridal party getting ready in the morning of the wedding. Then a short walk down the magnificent stair case is the Cavendish suite where the ceremony is held. This room is beautiful and elegant and a great setting for a personal wedding ceremony.
Fortunately, the weddings I have photographed at the Latimer Estate have all had beautiful weather, so the drinks reception has been able to take place on the outside terrace. Then just next to this the beautiful lawn is ideal for the family group photos. At one of the weddings the groom and groomsmen decided they would pick up the bride for a photo (which I never advise for this exact reason) and they were not totally organised, and poor bride Claire toppled forwards and nearly fell flat on her face! Fortunately, she didn’t quite hit the ground and like a right star she laughed it off and carried on. This turned out to be one of my favourite photos of the day, the unexpected is what I love, especially when it all turns out well.
Back inside at the Latimer Estate the dividing wall in the Cavendish Suite is opened up and the full glory of the room is revealed. It is such a great space for a wedding breakfast and there is a lot of space, which as a photographer is great when it comes to speeches and I can move around between the tables to get the best photos of the speakers and the guests’ reactions.
The sun sets over the lovely lawns at the back of the Latimer Estate and at one wedding on a very hot day we had a beautiful sunset. I cannot resist a summer sunset, and this is just the perfect location for photos like this with a beautiful view and a clear sky.
I had my first experience of a vodka luge at the Latimer Estate. Not an experience drinking from it but photographing it. I admit when the bride told me they would be having one I had to Google it to discover it was an ice sculpture to pour vodka through and drink directly from. It sounded amazing and, on the day, it lived up to the hype. I was fascinated when this huge lump of carved ice arrived, and my brain started getting creative with what I could do to photograph it. When the time came for the bride and groom to have the first go, I set up a flash behind it for dramatic effect and the photo came out really well.
The evening party at the Latimer Estate is always so much fun and the dance floor is always packed. The layout is great as guests can move between the Cavendish Suite, the outdoor terrace and the bar really easily without being too far from the action.
Photographing weddings at the Latimer Estate is always a pleasure and I am very much looking forwards to capturing more wedding memories at this beautiful venue in the future.
